Healed from Electrocution
Mary is a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ living in Vietnam. She accepted the Lord a few years back when her grandmother took her to church. Despite her parent’s opposition to Christianity, today Mary has a vibrant faith in Jesus. She and her grandmother attend every Sunday service and they diligently pray that Mary’s parents would accept the Gospel and develop a personal relationship with God. The longer Mary attended church, the more she had a desire to serve the Lord in some way, and though she didn’t have the skills, she dreamt of playing the organ during a worship service. She doubted her parents would ever approve of anything that had to do with her walk with the Lord, but she found the courage to ask anyway. To her delight and surprise, they agreed to the lessons. She learned how to play the organ and when she was ready she joined the worship team and played regularly for the congregation. One day, when she was at home, Mary was electrocuted in a horrific accident that turned her entire body blue. Everyone thought Mary was dead but her grandmother wept over her body and begged the Lord to spare her life. The young girl opened her eyes during the prayer, alive and well, but her hands had suffered the brunt of the injury and were severely burned. Both Mary and her grandmother grieved the injury knowing that she would never again play the organ. One day, while caring for her daughter’s recovery, Mary’s mother surprisingly took hold of her daughter’s injured hands and began praying that God would heal them. To Mary’s astonishment, immediately she was able to move her fingers without pain and a little while later they were completely healed and back to normal. Mary’s parents both accepted Jesus when they saw the Lord’s power and love for their daughter. Mary went on to play the organ at church but now her parents are there to listen and worship the Lord with the others.
In Hebrews 11:6, we read: And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
The Lord rewarded the simple faith that Mary’s mother displayed, not only with the gift of healing for her daughter but, also, ultimately with eternal life for herself.
