Cambodian Policeman Healed by Jesus

Instead of turning to God, he turned to other witch doctors.

Sam grew up in one of the most terrifying periods in the history of his country, Cambodia. He was only a young boy in 1975 when Pol Pot took control of the country. His sister was a member of the notorious and brutal Khmer Rouge and she committed many horrific acts. By the grace of God, however, Sam did not perpetrate any murders as his sister did, and he was not allowed in the Khmer Rouge camp, but he lived close by. He lived in terror until 1979 when the Khmer Rouge régime fell, although Sam remained enslaved by a darker force for many years following. He became a witch doctor, delving deeply into satanic darkness. He remained tormented and afraid, even after also becoming a police officer. When his wife became sick, he performed all the magic he could to make her better. He drew upon all his skills as a witch doctor to make her better, but she remained deathly ill. Many Christians had shared Jesus with Sam over the years, but he had always resisted them and he did so now. Instead of turning to God, he turned to other witch doctors. They told him his wife had been cursed and would die when she became 45 years old. They implored him to sacrifice to the devil. He killed all the cows he owned, 35 in total, but his wife remained sick. His religious practices had failed him. In one last desperate attempt to save his wife, he carried her to a nearby evangelical hospital. There he met a pastor who was a former Khmer Rouge leader, and the man shared the Gospel with Sam. He accepted Christ and declared he would worship the one true God and no one else. Sam cried out to God for the life of his wife and the Lord healed her. Since coming to faith, the Lord has continued to transform his life. He is still a police officer, but instead of abusing his power, Sam now hunts down corrupt officers and arrests them. He is widely respected and has much influence with the Cambodian people. Because of this, he can go almost anywhere and share the Gospel. Sam knows all he has is from the Lord. He has started six new churches and plans on travelling to remote areas in the mountains to continue his ministry.

2 Corinthians 4:6 says this: For God who said, light shall shine out of the darkness, is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

The Lord had a divine purpose for Sam’s life and he is now a light for those in the darkness, as he walks in faith claiming Jesus as the truth.

SIT REPORT: The Victorious Year of 2021

The Word of God has been given to us for such times as these to provide believers with comfort and peace. But it is also true that the Bible has been given to us to provide “perspective” and therefore I often point believers to scriptures like these: “Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days—You would not believe if you were told” (Habakkuk 1:5 NASB). Read more...
