Contagious Christianity

After talking at length about the Gospel, the 25 new converts wanted to tell others about Jesus.

There is a remote tribe in Ethiopia that has had minimal contact with Christians. This people group is incredibly devout and they adhere to all their ancient customs with little regard to the outside world. A group of church planters who believed no one had ever taken the Gospel to this tribe, agreed to go and tell them about Jesus. The Christians arrived on an Islamic holiday where many people had gathered to celebrate. They engaged the people in spiritual talks that soon led to great fruit. As the church planters explained about Jesus and told stories of his great power, many who listened began to understand their need for a Saviour. It wasn’t long before they expressed a desire to repent of their sins and accept Jesus and on that day 25 people gave their lives to Christ. It was quite the celebration as they rejoiced in their newfound peace and emerging hope. They were in awe of the changes they felt within them and expressed their joy freely. Jesus had found them and they were all ecstatic about His great love. They declared without reservation, It is really God’s time now for us.” After talking at length about the Gospel, the 25 new converts wanted to tell others about Jesus. They began to look for anyone who would listen. Someone saw a Somali man passing by that they knew and they called out to him to come and join their group. The new Christians shared all they had learned from the church planters. The Somali man listened as they spoke of salvation and forgiveness. The enthusiasm and genuine joy in their words and countenance were contagious. The Somali man repented and asked Jesus into his life and then immediately he went to tell others and another ten people, all Somali, gave their hearts to Christ.

In 2 Corinthians 2:14, we read: But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.

As the new believers reveled in the knowledge that they had finally discovered, God the light of Jesus shone through them into every place they traveled.

As the church planters explained about Jesus and told stories of his great power, many who listened began to understand their need for a Savior.

SIT REPORT: The Victorious Year of 2021

The Word of God has been given to us for such times as these to provide believers with comfort and peace. Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days—You would not believe if you were told” (Habakkuk 1:5 NASB). Read more...
